Catherine Anne O'Hara OOC was born on March 4, 1954. O'Hara has won numerous prizes, including the Genie Award (a Golden Globe Award), two Screen Actors Guild Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition, O'Hara was awarded six Canadian Screen Awards. In 2018, O'Hara was appointed as an Officer of Canada. She was also presented with the Governor General’s Performing Arts Lifetime Artistic Achievement Medal in 2020. O'Hara began her career as an actress in 1974, when she was in The Second City, an comedy troupe that improvised in Toronto. Together with John Candy (1975-1978), she was part of the principal cast of the sitcom Coming Up Rosie (1975-1978). The next year, O'Hara and Candy began working in the sketch comedy show Second City Television (1976-1984) in which she received critical acclaim for both her performance as a comedic actress and as a writer. She was awarded an award called the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for the Variety Series in 1981. In 2022, O'Hara was added to the new Second City artistic advisory board headed by Stephen Colbert, along with Steve Carell, Dwayne Colbert, Tina Fey, Keegan-Michael Key, Julia Louis-Dreyfus Jane Lynch, Tim Meadows, Peter Murrieta, Suzy Nakamura Sam Richardson, Jeff Richmond, Jason Sudeikis, and Robin Thede.
